A Different Approach to Opt in Pop Ups

Why?

To get the visitor’s attention without irritating them.

How?

Have a small sprite animate across the screen, lodge itself to one end of the screen and follow the visitor when they scroll up and down. This can be triggered by time or exit intent just like a normal pop-up. It doesn’t have to be big, a small one might be better, and it should have an interesting image or symbol on it to make the visitor want to click it. Only when the visitor clicks it the opt-in pop-up appears.

Web Alert for Email Waiting

Why?

You sent an email to your subscriber (as part of an automated sequence), and he still didn’t open it. Get him to open it next time he’s active online.

How?

Show him a reminder with a teaser about what’s in the email you sent him. Either use a dynamic retargeting ad on the web or even a dynamic pop-up on your site.

Surprise Pop Ups to Train Your Visitors

Why?

You want to be different and surprise your visitors while training them to behave in a particular way that is important for you.

How?

Have a mechanism for showing popup overlays (or drop down, pull up, etc.) when the visitor has done something you wish to train them to do: stayed for a period of time, read a certain amount, clicked on individual links, etc. These pop-ups should offer something surprising while telling the visitor why, for instance: “You have been reading this article with interest – good! As a gift to you, please download this guide – free and no need to opt in.”

A Better Way to Help Understanding How a Particular Web Page Works.

Why?

You see a web page that has some interesting elements in it and would like to know how it works. You now have to look separately at the HTML code, the CSS, JavaScript, etc.

How?

Show all relevant code for specific web page object as a pop-up overlay. This way you don’t have to hunt for each code snippet in their separate, distinct source.
