Map of Scientific Discoveries

Why?

To get a picture of what each country is producing in science discoveries.

How?

Overlay aggregate science discoveries data on a map to get a picture of which country is leading and in what areas. Also, add a dial for the time frame to see how things developed over time.

Algorithms for Humans

Why?

If you can program a machine why not yourself?

How?

Publish human oriented algorithms. Each one should have a definite and measurable goal, clear steps, and produce the desired goal when followed. Only publish algorithms that qualify according to these rules. Each step can and should have a small explanation of why it’s included, and can also link to a more elaborate explanation.

“One” Articles Only

Why?

Daily you can see the following kind of article: “7 simple ways to lose weight,” “10 things to make you happier,” etc. The problem is that, by the time you finish reading through the list you might remember a couple of the items from the ones listed in the article. Implementing them is even more unlikely because it’s hard to do so many.

How?

A place where only “one” articles are published. Instead of “7 habits to …”, the article should be about “One simple habit to …”

Get the Live Performance Feeling in Your Music Library

Why?

When you buy music and listen to it, again and again, you will always hear the same one, without any variation. Live music at concerts is always a little different from the recorded version and also from live performance to live performance.

How?

Have different versions recorded for each piece of music (in studio, live performances, both.) When you buy the music (for download or streaming) you get access to all the versions. You can choose which version to listen to at any given time, or let the software decide randomly or based on your previous behavior. A new digital format can also be created where you can break down the elements of the music so that the performer can record alternative elements for individual parts and they can be dynamically exchanged or added when you play the music.

Self Referencing Book

Why?

Help you remember the what and who of a book that is complex or you continue reading after a long break.

How?

Have an option in ebook readers to turn on a layer of hyperlinks. These should be available to link characters and events mentioned to their origin in the book, so you can click on such a link, and it will either take you to the source so you can catch up again, or pop up a window with the original text so you can take a look, close it, and continue reading.
