Create Strange New Worlds

Why?

Use the real world to imagine a different one.

How?

An augmented reality app that allows you to apply real-time filters to the camera video stream and create a strange looking world from the real world around you. You can change the colors, contrast, shapes, by moving sliders on screen. When you are satisfied, you can take snapshots or record a video of your strange new world and share it online.

More Symmetrical Selfies

Why?

When you take a selfie, your phone might flip the picture to show the real way you look to others instead of a mirror image. You then realize that your face is not very symmetrical.

How?

Build a filter that takes a picture of a face and makes it subtly more symmetrical.

One Time Phone Numbers

Why?

You don’t want some people to disturb you regularly. If you are doing this right, then people around you know that and know you might not pick up if they call without an appointment. But what if it’s an emergency?

How?

Have one time numbers you can give out to people. Each gets a number they can call in a case of emergency. After you pick up (you can identify these numbers by their unique area code) and finish the call, that number no longer works. If that person needs a new one, they can ask for it.

A Simple Spam Filter

Why?

Stop spam from getting to your inbox without false positives.

How?

An email service that automatically sends a reply to emails arriving for the first time from an email address. The auto-reply asks one question: “In what city is the recipient they sent their email to usually reads his email.” The sender has to answer this question only once after their first email. If they don’t, or they give a wrong answer, they are blacklisted, and their emails are never delivered to the recipient.

Hand Filtered and Edited Daily Alerts

Why?

Alerts are an excellent tool to keep yourself informed on your market, and there are a few good services already, some even free like Google alerts. They are, however, inaccurate at best, and time-consuming at worst.

How?

Have your automatic alerts be curated by a personal assistance service. You have a session with your account assistant where you explain exactly what you are looking for in those alerts, and what should bot reach you. From that point on all your alerts will be filtered and edited by your assistant(s). You will get a daily (or even hourly) digest of all the alerts you need. You can even ask for them to synopsize long articles to help you get to the meat of things.
