For the museum, it’s a way to sell more books by having different price levels. The visitor gets a chance to personalize their book and get one at the price level they want to spend (not necessarily cheaper.)
Every time the visitor sees an exhibit they would like in their book, they select it (using an app, a special device they get when they enter, etc.) When they finish with the exhibition, they choose the type of book they want (how many pages, size, the amount of text, level of production quality, etc.) and after a short time they can pick it up at the museum shop printed especially for them just the way they wanted.
You are going somewhere and don’t want to carry the physical book with you, but would still want to continue reading it.
A function of the ebook software on your smartphone or tablet that allows you to point the camera at the page you are currently reading in your physical book. The app will recognize it and take you to the same spot in the ebook so you can continue reading.
Get them to come back with delight.
Stick a gift or discount coupon on coins. Make it a thin layer of transparent material, so it’s not easily detected when they get their change at the store. Print on it the coupon and sneak such a coin into the others you give them as change. Then watch them come back with delight.
Help customers pay attention to your book.
Before publishing your book, go to bookstores and look at the other books’ spines in the section where your book will be. Then have a spine designed for your book that stands out and would attract customers – something that will be so strange that will make them notice it compared to all other books there.
Make you customers feel like VIPs.
Instead of a common waiting room for all patients waiting, lead each one into a private waiting room. You can have a TV there, serve them coffee, water, etc., have new magazines, and also show them a constant update on what is the foreseeable waiting time.
