Flash Sale Inside Brick and Mortar Stores

Why?

Bring old and new customers in, and provide a fun, social and useful experience.

How?

Have a separate room dedicated to the sale. Only allow a set number of people to go inside at a time. Next person can go in when another one comes out. People have to register in advance. People go inside in registration order. Each person has a time limit on the stay inside. They get a wristband that will beep when time is up. Payment for the goods happens inside.

Randomized Prevention and Protection Drone

Why?

Every security system has fixed parameters. The number of cameras and when and what they cover over time. This is a vulnerability.

How?

By having a video camera-carrying drone perform check flights, at random times and in random flight paths, the predictability of the security system is reduced.

Book Gifters Anonymous

Why?

You read a book. You think “my friend should read this book”.

How?

You let us know what book you want to buy and to whom to send it to. You pay for the book. The friend who gets it doesn’t know that you sent it. He reads the book. If he likes it he might want to know who you are, so he pays for the book, and we tell him it was you who sent it. When he pays, you get credit for the full amount you paid for your next gifting pleasure. Or if you want to stay anonymous even after he pays he can send you in return a book you might like.

Task Alert With Goal Reminder

Why?

When you get an alert for a task you need to do, its very easy to dismiss it because you “don’t feel like it” at that point in time (you have more urgent things to do, like arranging the icons on your iPhone.) It’s easy because the context of the task is lost. You forget the “big why” – why do you need to do this!

How?

If you write the reminder in a way that would give you the context of why you want to do this, it might help you execute on it and not reschedule. Don’t write as a “floating” task: “write a new blog post about time management for kids”, instead try: “write a new post about kids time management because I need to win over the parents target market”.

Match Your Website to Your Target Audience

Why?

You probably have more than one profile (avatar) as your target audience. Using some principles of influence like authority and similarity can help project the right image for a particular visitor.

How?

Have different looks for your website, each projecting what you want to the current visitor. For instance, projecting authority to a corporate visitor might include a photo of you in a smart high-end suit giving a talk to a large corporate audience. At the same time for someone who has a small business they run from home, a more “rich guy” casual photo of you might project more authority to him. The technical solutions for doing this by keeping track of where the visitor came from, what ad or article did they read before they clicked and came to your site, etc., are already available, as well as dynamically modifying the look of your website. You should have a default look for your site, for those visitors who you don’t know enough about.
