Why?

It’s hard, awkward and many times doesn’t result in a positive outcome, when you approach a visitor to your store and ask if they need help.

How?

When a visitor comes in, position yourself within his eyesight but too further away to have any comfortable verbal exchange. After a short while, while observing him try and catch their eyes and just – in a “by the way,” familiar and welcoming style – smile and wave at them as if welcoming back an acquaintance, then continue immediately doing what you were and not looking at them. It is very different than anything they usually experience in a store. It breaks the script they have in their mind of how things happen in a store, and if done correctly, will result in many more visitors coming to you and asking for help.

Get Customers Returning to Your Store With This Game

Why?

You get two benefits:
1. Customers will visit the store more frequently.
2. Their attachment and feelings to the store will increase.

How?

You put a small paper with a message (like “So you found me!? Show me when you’re checking out and get…”) in or under an item in the store (a book for example.) Then publish (on Facebook, Twitter, etc.) that you have hidden a coupon in or under an item in your store, and give them clues to where it is. The clues should help them quickly find the item. The moment they locate the message (they have to come in to look for it), they get whatever you promised (discount, gift, etc.), and you hide it in a new item (the next on your list.) They then share this and the new clues with their friends. You also publish that the coupon has been found and now moved to a new item, and the clues for it. You continue this as long as it’s working (you can change what you give from time to time if you see it’s not attractive anymore.) For each person finding the message, there’ll be many who try, so this should increase traffic to your store.

A Curated Visit to the Store

Why?

You go to a store (a book store for instance), and you are interested in a particular subject. You find the shelf you’re looking for, but there are so many options, that unless you already have some knowledge, it’s hard to decide what books to buy and in what order to read them.

How?

Make an appointment with a specialist and specify what you are interested in (for instance books about the history of science, or productivity, etc.) You’ll meet at an agreed upon time at a big store, and he will do a whole tour of the subject with you, and give you an independent advice on what to buy.
